Departure between 09:00 and 09:30 from the Hotel to visit El Laucho beach, La Lisera Beach and the former Alacrán Island. Then the Chinchorro beach and Las Machas beach 10 kilometers along the seashore to the Bird Sanctuary (mouth of the Lluta river), where we can observe a great variety of resident and migratory birds, such as: pelicans, cormorants, herons, pelicans, gray gull, Peruvian gull, Dominican gull, black skimmer, the Inca and black tern, crowned night heron and the Turkey Vulture among others.
Migratory birds include: Baird’s Sandpiper, Pusilla Sandpiper, Curlew (Hudsonian Curlew), Lesser Tringa, Franklin’s Gull, Arctic Tern, Elegant Tern, Black-bellied Plover, American Golden Plover and Sanderling, among others. There are approximately 130 different species of birds between the coast and the highlands.
The flora is made up of rushes, reeds, grasses and Sorona, an ancient plant. Then we will visit the Fisherman’s Wharf to observe sea lions, pelicans, and finally, the Civic Center including the train station (Arica – La Paz, Bolivia, 1906), the former Customs (designed by Eiffel 1884) and the Cathedral of San Marcos (designed by Eiffel 1886).
Finally, we will ascend to the Morro de Arica, to have a panoramic view of the city and visit its Weapons Museum and return to the meeting point, to leave the tourists at their lodging place.
