LAUCA NATIONAL PARK & SURIRE SALT FLAT (3 days / 2 nights)

Day 01: Arica – Putre:

Departure of the Tour at 10:30 a.m. We will visit the Agricultural Terminal to see a typical market, we will enter the Azapa Valley, on the way we will observe the La Tropilla Geoglyphs, we will visit the San Miguel de Azapa Museum.  We will cross towards the Lluta Valley with a beautiful view of both valleys. Box Lunch and contact with the candelabra cactus and the magnetic zone.  We will visit a pre-Inca fortress in Copaquilla and a foothill town of Socoroma 3000 masl.  Hike for this town for approximately 1 hour, a short break (coffee and cookies). Arrival to Putre 3500 masl at 6:30 p.m. approximately. Accommodation.

Day 02: Putre – Salar de Surire – Putre:

Departure from Putre at approximately 08:00 hours. Breakfast at Bofedal de las Cuevas (4310 masl). Later visiting Ancuta and Guallatire, two highland towns over 4000 meters above sea level at the foot of the active Guallatire volcano.  Arriving at the Surire Salt flat at approximately 12:00 pm. We will visit Chilcaya making a walk of approximately one hour, to photograph the flora and fauna in this National Monument; then we go to the Polloquere Hot Springs at 4270 masl, picnic and bathing in this place. Return to Putre at approximately 7:00 p.m. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 03: Putre – Lauca National Park – Arica:

Departure from the accommodation in Putre at approximately 08:30. Breakfast in Putre or in the Wetland of the caves, where we will hike for 40 minutes. On the way we’ll see wild vicuñas, vizcachas and we will know bofedales, the base of the ecosystem in the altiplano (Parinacota Wetland Lokout). We will be able to admire a great variety of birds such as the pitios del norte, guallatas, coots, among others. admiring the Chungara Lake, the Cotacotani Lagoons where we will hike for approximately 3 hours (optional).  Box Lunch in the town of Parinacota.  Return to Arica admiring the scenery.  Arrival at approximately 6:00 PM.

• 02 nights accommodation in a hotel in Putre (Hotel Q’antati or Terrace Lodge or similar).

• 03 Box Lunch in Valle de Lluta, picnic in Termas de Polloquere y Parinacota.

Features: Tour of Hot Springs in the Parinacota plateau, Salt flats and its bird life, volcanoes and landscapes with a beautiful ecosystem.
