Description:
The Huatacondo Ravine, or Huaca Cunturi in Quechua meaning “Huaca of the Condor,” is one of the largest ravines in the Tarapacá Region, located 180 km southeast of the city of Iquique. It originates in the highlands of Huinquintipa on the border with Bolivia and contains arable land in Copaquire, Igua, Cautenisca, Huatacondo, Tiquima, and Tamentica. Huatacondo, the only town in the ravine, sits at an altitude of 2,320 meters above sea level. It is an agricultural area with crops such as alfalfa and fruits like oranges, guavas, quince, lemons, and prickly pears, among others.
