Although it seems strange. It’s true ! In the driest desert in the world there are vines and they have an ancient history. The one that you will be able to know and live through a tour with a unique experience where you can taste this delicious drink.
A concoction that you will be able to learn about its history, culture and heritage when we start our trip (of 01 hour and 15 minutes approx), from Iquique to Canchones in the middle of the Tamarugal Forest Reserve. We will also tell you the story of the discovery of Tamarugal, a 100% Chilean strain, registered as No. 1 in the SAG, among other mysterious findings of this blessed and saline strain.
Already in the vineyard. Upon arriving at the Canchones Experimental Station, we will be greeted by the site coordinator of the “Desert Wine project”, Belén, who will ensure that you live the experience of knowing the vineyards in their formation and production stage. Then we will go to the winery, where the winemaking stages of the Tamarugal, País and Gros Colman vines are processed and carried out.
Finally, the Sommelier Natalia Fernández, will be in charge of tasting the wines of “Vino del Desierto”, accompanied by a pairing with local identity such as chocolates with wine, raisins covered with chocolates, sweet potato snack, raisin jams, among other products that enhance and rescue the vine.
Days of desert Wine Route Tour: Fridays and Saturdays.
Length: 5 hours, including the Transfers of Pick up and drop off.
Departure times from Iquique: 08:00, 10:30 and 14:00 horas.
Presentation schedules in the vineyard: 10:00, 12:30 and 16:00 hours.

- Tour guide during the transfer.

Very important: Tour in the Canchones vineyard will be carried out with the minimum presentation of 4 people per time blocks (10:00, 12:30 and 16:30 hours), it is not possible to attend with children or pets, reservations must be generated 48 hours before the activity.
