RAINBOW MOUNTAINS SURIPLAZA & CHUNGARA LAKE (2 days - 1 night)

We invite you on a two-day getaway from Arica to the most iconic landscapes of the Altiplano. Discover heritage towns, Lauca National Park, Lake Chungará, and the colorful mountains of Suriplaza, with accommodation in Putre, meals as indicated, and an optional guided hike

Day 01: Arica – Putre – Chungara Lake:

Departure at 8:00 am from Arica, beginning the journey by connecting with the Lluta Valley, with views of the geoglyphs and a brief stop in Poconchile. The Cardones Ravine, with a panoramic stop to appreciate the candelabra cactus and the changing landscape towards the foothills of the Andes. The Pukará of Copaquilla. Exterior visit and contemplation of this ancient Andean defensive settlement. Breakfast en route (breakfast included at the Zapahuira’s Tambo or Socoroma, depending on operational conditions). Town of Socoroma, brief tour of its traditional architecture, church, and agricultural terraces. Arrival in Putre. Check-in at the accommodation and lunch included at approximately 1:00 pm.   

3:00 PM | Lauca National Park

Tour of the Las Cuevas sector, the historic town of Parinacota, the crystalline Cotacotani Lagoons, and the impressive Lake Chungará, one of the highest navigable lakes in the world, in the heart of Lauca National Park.

7:00 PM | Return to Putre

Arrival at your accommodation. Dinner on your own (not included).

Day 02: Suriplaza (Rainbow Mountains):

Early departure from Putre. Breakfast included before starting the high mountain route. Taapaca Viewpoint. First stop to observe the Taapaca massif and the pre-Andean landscape. Allane Ravine. Entrance to the Suriplaza Mountains area, amidst wetlands, wildlife, and multicolored volcanic formations.

Suriplaza Experience

1. Optional guided, low-intensity hike of up to approximately one hour.

2. Those who prefer not to hike can remain at the viewpoints enjoying photography and observing the landscape.

Picnic lunch or boxed lunch en route and direct return to Arica.

Tour Include:

• 01 night Accommodation in a hotel in Putre (Q’antati or Terrace Lodge or similar).
• 01 breakfast at Hotel de Putre.
• 01 lunch at a Restaurant in Putre (day 01).
• 01 Box lunch on the route (day 02).
• Refreshments during the excursion: Drinks and bottled water, fruit, coffee, cookies.
• English spoken tour guide. 
• Professional Driver.
• Oxygen equipment.
• Professional first aid kit.
• Vehicle equipped and suitable for the area on the excursion.

Not Include:

• Dinner on the 1st.

Recommendations:

Wear layers of clothing and a windbreaker.  Bring a hat, gloves and sunglasses.    Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.  Bring sunscreen or sunblock.   Bring bottled water and personal medications.  Bring a small backpack and camera.  

NOTE: Not suitable tour, for people with heart or lung problems, such as angina, coronary heart disease, lung dysfunction, etc.
